The Calling 05
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning. Once you’re caught up on the main storyline then checkout the side stories in “Tales of Holiday’s Past.”
Come on… you guys should be able to guess by now where this is going.
Gee, I hope that hurt … a lot.
Considering that this story is like 20 episodes long, I think he's going to survive.
you sure i thought you wanted to kill him, and where did he land looks to be very very old
Just a few episodes ago we learned that this is somewhere deep within the everglades.
Maybe that made him evil!
You really think of him as Evil? I'm not sure if I ever considered him to be EVIL. Demented, crazy, psycho, twisted… of course, but I really hadn't considered him to be EViL before.
Demented, sick, twisted, sure but evil? Lets look at the evidence. Torture – Santa Claus – check, mutilation – Elves – check, Torment – the way she talked to Taylor during their fight – check. I never had any doubt from day one of this series that the Bunny is the most evil of the holidays and I think you've given plenty of evidence to support that.
I guess it comes down to what your definition of "evil" is. The Bunny isn't out to destroy the world or take over the world. He's fighting to survive and is willing to do whatever it takes to do so. He believes very strongly in "the end justifies the mean" and sure he enjoys inflicting pain, but at the end of the day he's meant to be more of a psychopath than sociopath.
I think for me an "evil" character would be an entity that is only willing to destroy. And yes we have seen Easter take down countless Holidays but not once have we seem him attack mankind. So there are clear lines he isn't willing to cross.
I'm not saying you are wrong for calling him an evil character. I'm simply saying that I sincerely hadn't pictured him as one.
Point of view, doesn't our heroine count as human being technically? He's certainly attacked her and then left her to freeze to death.
Tegan is 100% human, but she's clearly different. However if you want to get technical then when exactly did The Bunny try to kill her? All he has ever done is tried to capture her. Remember, even the cupids had strict instructions not to hurt her?
Leaving her to freeze to death doesn't count. He didn't force her to the North Pole and then leave her there. All he did was turn his back on her and walk away when Wallace was dying.
That seems like a very demanding/restrictive definition of evil. I'd settle for something a bit more common, such as the D&D definition: Hurting other people for your own gain. And since that's what the Bunny does a lot of, that makes him evil in my eyes. Not that I usually sit around and classify characters as good/evil, but if I had to, that's the definition I'd use. And I can't remember ever seeing the Bunny do something nice for someone, so I wouldn't even have to weigh his good sides against his evil sides, because there are pretty much only evil sides.
Maybe that's it. "Evil" is a black and white term and because I'm trying to create non-flat characters I don't really classify them as "good" or "evil." I see them as characters (some more selfish than others) with conflicting want and morals. Not just "good guys" and "bad guys."
Yeah he's evil but he's a different kind of evil. In fact it's gotten to the point that I kind of really like The Bunny. He's like scary bad ass in the sense you don't know what he's going to do next.
Pffff if you think The Bunny is badass wait till Volume 2 and you meet WINTER.
correction scott when you want to destroy something that been protecting the holidays and now you want to do something againt the grain and kiling the ones that are stopping you at every turn would be infact evil due he trying to undo what was set in place because the wabbit is listening to dead holidays that have been forgotten for a reason.
and i am betting those civilizations are long since dead are holidays that wouldn't be accepted by human kind today the now civilizations wouldn't know anything about them… whose to say the forgotten day are something like the Aztecian/Atlantean holidays!! that went away when went poof
in my eyes the bunnie is doing something that would be evil becasue he being told he will be forgotten you cant seem to forget that day no mater what meaning you get
He is sick… but in a very good way. One of my favorite villains ever.
I'm starting to think The Bunny is a lot more stronger than we realized.
Being one of The Big Six matters.
Though i know its the Bunny from ToHP. My first though was thought was "Damn! Friday got knocked far!… ToHP? Oh, hope that hurt… silly rabbit"
Holy crap… that was my first thought, too. Funny!
So where is this… Easter Island? 🙂
Easter Island. LOL
LOL
Does Black History Month count as a
holidayholimonth?I checked my notes. I have it labeled as "???"
Really, the first thing that catches my attention in this panel is that head number two on the left side looks like Chewbacca. So from now on, the two heads are named Han and Chewbacca in my brain.
I can see it. I don't think that was Jeff's intention when drawing this page. However artist like to sneak in weird inside jokes so it could've been intentional. I'll pop him an email and ask.
I had not intended that at all but now that I look at it, it does. Hehe funny.
The forgotten ones…ancient gods?? That would be a super nice touch!
See, I've never really thought of the Bunny as "evil" either. In previous ToHP's we've seen that Easter was never big on hiding the Holidays from mankind. She (at that point) didn't want to stagnate and die(?) but at the exact same time, the fear of what she would change into is what was behind that. Thinking about it from that standpoint, the Bunny had kind of become indifferent to the evolution of the Holidays in general, but the Voices of the Dead Holidays came along and offered an alternative; causing the Bunny to latch on to it like a drowning man holds on to a life-preserver. Being one of the Big Six also meant that the Bunny had more than enough clout to lead (President's Day), drag, and even force (April's Fool) the lesser and minor Holidays to follow him. Again, it's the fear of evolving and possibly being forgotton that's driving all of this. If you think about it, they way he's acting now is only slightly different from a person caught in absolute hysteria; the difference being that he IS aware of what he's doing. But everything that he's done has been in for the ultimate goal of Revealling the Holidays and the Supernatural World to human society. So has he done horrible, sometimes evil things; yes. Is he an "evil" character; no, just a really dark shade of grey, lol.
BTW, I don't care if he is "basically a god," a fall like that is going to knock some things around and hurt like a SOB!
