Old Debts 20
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning. Once you’re caught up on the main storyline then checkout the side stories in “Tales of Holiday’s Past.”
Thus ends “Old Debts.” It took us a long time to get to the end, but if you go back and re-read it from start to finish I think this tale holds up pretty strongly. More importantly I think TL Collins did a fantastic job with it from start to finish. So a huge THANK YOU goes out to him.
Don’t forget “Holiday Wars: Volume 1” is on Kickstarter. We are offering tons of exclusive rewards and even if you can’t pledge then you can help by spreading the word.
Claire?
A lot of people think Mrs. Claus' name is "Jessica" cause that is what she was named in two of the Rankin Bass specials. However, traditionally speaking she doesn't have a name. Since I'm all about woman power and identity I felt it was important to give her a name and "Claire" fit nicely.
I see it makes sense and it is quite a nice name.
At least it wasn't Monica.
What's wrong with Monica?
Yep. This was a good one, both the art and the story. Feels quite 'authentic' for being fiction.
It's nice of you to say that. Part of the goal with this (and several stories coming) is to integrate our characters into mythology while still honoring the mythology. It always drives me crazy to see myths spun around to the point that they are completely different from the real mythology. Instead I want our characters to co-exist with the myths instead of taking them over.
heh, at least Sinterclaus understands the nature of the "Holiday Spirit". it's SO changable, sweetness and light to hurricane force of bitterness and rage.
Claire Claus? A little alliterative for my tastes, but it works …
😉
It's not her fault she married into the Claus family. Her maiden name sounds much better.
Actually, "Santa" is a title, and "Claus" is his first name, so his wife's name would be Santa Claire.
Just an interesting point of trivia: I also have the title of Santa. I'm Santa Oren, who delivers clothing and toys to poor Lakota people once a year, every July. No kidding!
Imagine it as a game of chess, with santa on one side, and the bunny on the other. Santa now knows that the bunny will be taking him out. He could try to stop the bunny. However I think what he decided to do is make someone else the king by marking them for the holiday spirit , let the bunny think he had won, and plotted a series of events that relied on many different factors that logically should never work so that it would blindside the bunny and make their entire conflict meaningless.
or not. You know. whatev's.
We'll find out sometime soonish!
As a Dutchman, I thank you for a nice origin story of Sinterklaas 🙂
I suspect Sinterklaas created the American Santa Claus to trick the Bunny into thinking he transformed into Santa Claus, while secretly hiding in Europe with the Spirit. After all, Sinterklaas is still active in Netherlands and Belgium!
