Episode 286
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning. Once you’re caught up on the main storyline then checkout the side stories in “Tales of Holiday’s Past.”
Awww. Poor Bunny 🙁
P-panel 2…
STOP MAKING ME FEEL BAD FOR THE PERSON WHO KILLED SANTA
I LOOK AT THAT FACE AND I WANT TO CRY
Then Michael and I have done our jobs of making him somewhat sympathetic.
Wow, when did she turn into Covert Badass
Forget Friday, Tegan is my new favorite Character!!!
In the original script there was actually a scene with Tegan and Halloween set between the time she wakes up in the casino and when she teleports to Haven. In the end it was ultimately too much exposition and slowed down the pacing. …but it's in that gap that she figures out what the Holiday Spirit can do.
Sounds like good material for a flashback later on though.
Depending on page counts and stuff I could always turn it into a prose story and use it as extras for the graphic novel (I also have several ToHP's saved for that purpose too).
Re-reading these past three pages and then looking at this note again, got me to go back and reread Halloween's section of the comic. And, now I'd like to say, that I really like your take on Halloween. Currently sitting at my #2 favorite version of such a character after Jack in Nightmare Before Christmas. For a "special guest star" that's well done. =)
No way. The Great Pumpkin is number 2.
Wow.
So like, the Holiday spirit is both the source and nexus of…
Aw forget it. I'm just going to quit theorizing and enjoy the story.
At least you finally sorta know what it is and what it does!
Almost makes you feel bad for him, doesn't-(Sees the bodies of the dozens he killed)…Nevermind. Let him rot.
I could never understand why people could sympathize with Mass-Murderers, but not with people who were just jerks.
I actually don't know The Bunny's exact body count. I do think it's in "dozens" however and not "hundreds." In contrast, April Fools' body count is in the hundreds or maybe thousands but that's a story for another day.
And with the flick of her wrist, she took out the Hitler of Holidays.
Of course, there's still Mussolini and Hirohito out there (Valentine's day and Thanksgiving)
I can say both will appear in Volume 2.
She'll need to do the same to Valentines and Thanksgiving. They're just as guilty as the Bunny.
Not as much. They don't have nearly the same amount of blood on their hands.
Bah, they supported his reign of terror. Anyone who sides with the guy who KILLED SANTA (and did it gleefully) doesn't deserve mercy.
Seems like I called it on Wednesday's comic. Tegan takes (most) of what makes Bunny a Holiday from him.
I agree, needs to handle Valentine's and Thanksgiving, and probably sundry little collaborators.
Makes me wonder what will be the gist of Vol 2? The ancient holidays that lured the Bunny away from the Path?
I checked an old post. Book 2 is called "Winter's Wrath." I'm not sure what that implies, but it could simply be a name. Going after The Forgotten seems like a safe bet though.
The post just a few days ago said something like, "Wait till you meet Winter in Volume 2." Quite a while back there was also a post about "holidays" or "observances" that covered more than a single day being in Volume 2. I'm guessing that the 4 seasons (not the singing group ^_~) would be the most powerful of these holidays, unless you count something like a year as being one of them. (Year of the dragon, leap year, etc.)
Based on the hints I've given that's a good theory.
We will be posting a teaser sometime in the very near future (waiting for our cover colorist to finish the colors). It will give you a hint of what's to come.
Cant you tell us something now???
Volume 1 ends with Tegan being thrown into the future. There she has to survive in a dystopian society that is a direct result of her not killing The Bunny.
Seriously???!!!
No that would go against all the time travel rules in the Holiday Wars universe.
Volume 2 focuses on Winter a former elder god who had stayed away because he was scared of Santa & The Bunny. But with both out of the way he is now back with a vengeance!
You're just messing with us now. Aren't you?
🙂
I CALLED IT!! ON MY THEORY !!!
but i didnt call it on him dieing well ist almost like dieing he will be still alive but he wont urt anyone else
but now i have to thik if the fogotten or presidents day be next on her i am going to fix you wagon now
You've had like 10 theories and none of them were exactly right… besides it's not over yet.
I don't know, this makes me feel that Tegan's just as bad as the Bunny. It's almost a fate worse then death. Being just there… but forgotten. Despite the fact that Tegan didn't know that was the Bunny's motives, but… being on the fringes? She seems to have been unpopular enough to have been sent to Coventry before.
I don't sympathise with the Bunny, I just see Tegan in a a different light now.
/rant
Remember when we first met Tegan and she broke Beth's nose? She's not the kind of person to let a bully walk all over her. So doing this isn't out of character.
Oh yeah. I forgot.
Yeah Tegan is a touch chick!
Besides she's not killing him. She's neutering him. Her other options are to either be a murderer or to let him continue to murder people. She's clearly doing the best thing possible.
Ah but if all a rabbit is is a glorified sex drive, is neutering them robbing them of their free will, their personality, their-if you pardon me-their soul?
The whole point is that Easter isn't a bunny, he is a holiday. Part of what got him so angry is that he used to be a female human-form goddess until humans changed the meaning of Easter. He may look like a bunny today, but Easter isn't a bunny.
Seriously, what else is she supposed to do? He killed Santa. He can't be left to go unchecked.
Ah, but who killed Santa? Taylor, the Bunny or the Forgotten? That's three suspects there.
I'll tell you flat out: The Bunny.
Taylor was the chess piece that started the war but he never actually killed anyone.
As for The Bunny & The Forgotten's relationship… we'll learn more about that in both the main storyline and in the current ToHP story.
Go back to the very first comic and see for yourself. We get to see the bunny pulling santa's fingernails out with pliers before finally killing him.
I know he's a murderer but I feel really bad for him. I don't know when but I think I've actually started to like him. I know he took out a lot of Holidays but it's because he wanted to undo what Santa/Earth Day did. They were the ones who made things wrong in the first place. The Bunny just wants to fix them.
Murder is wrong.
I want to say I feel bad for the bunny, but the truth is, I don't. He let his fear and the voices of the "dead" control him, yes, but at some point, if he was a person worthy of feeling sorry for he would have gone " Hay you know, I bet these Holidays don't wanna die ether." But he did nothing of the such. So I say good. Though she should kill him, lest he come back, like a bad batman villain.
This isn't exactly over yet. Remember, Volume 1 ends in APRIL. So plenty could still happen for the tide to turn on Tegan.
In a ToHP you revealed that Easter used to be a nature spirit and that by forging the bond with the tree they kept themselves from being "locked" into one form. That lock is what killed the former Gods, they couldn't evolve when people's beliefs evolved. The Bunny is not what she used to be, but she still exists long after she would have been replaced, and is still one of the Big Six. I personally don't see where Santa and Gaia did anything wrong, they preserved all the holidays of that time. The Bunny never really understood that. She will still be one of the big six holidays, but cut off from the majority of the power that gives her. A very fitting punishment I would say.
That's pretty much a nice summary of the exposition.
That makes me wonder, where does his/her power go?
Tegan might not be a killer; but I'm guessing the other holidays won't be so forgiving.
I look forward to possibly seeing the Bunny get his ass kicked in the future.
