Episode 194
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning. Once you’re caught up on the main storyline then checkout the side stories in “Tales of Holiday’s Past.”
Okay okay okay… enough kidding around. All will be revealed on Monday. This is your last chance to guess though…
The first person who guesses correctly as to what is going on wins not just a bookmark but a copy of my award nominated graphic novel “DAD!” So get to guessing!
bear=talk like a pirate day… <- + my comprehension= huh?
Theodore Roosevelt?
lol i knew i was close to being what i thought he was teddy day!!
We are in what's known as a 'bear' market right now in the US – also known as a recession. This is a term Black Friday would be highly aware of. I don't actually know of any holiday that has to do with the stock market, but Tax Day seems decent enough to fulfill that purpose for me – and I can totally imagine Tax Day being evil.
The bunny killed Tax day at the beginning of the war, it was in the flashback scene of "Never drink green beer"
I remember because the bunny said "I never pay my taxes anyway"
Okay, thanks for letting me know – I tried searching to find out whether he was killed or not, but I didn't really get anywhere in my efforts – and archive surfing wasn't really in my day plan.
I really wish I knew of a holiday for stock markets, but knowing how often I come from left field, I'm probably way off. 😀
Besides, we may think of tax day as evil, but I would think the Tax Day anthropomorphic personification would be stricltly rule-abiding.
Perhaps – I'm in the stage of life right now anyway that Tax Day isn't necessarily evil, just a due date. Usually he gives me refunds, so that's nice. 🙂
How about valentines day. Pink drink, teddy bear. Sounds reasonable.
He's someone they don't recognize, so he's got to be someone like Dyngus Day or a very new holiday.
Personally, as long as Bloomsday turns up on the side of the good guys, I'm happy.
I was going to say Valentine's Day, but as that's taken, I'lll guess Gay Pride. What better time and place to drink pink drinks and see bears?
That comment is SO full of win.
WIN!
my guess would have to be he's really "The Candy man".
Teddy Bear=Gummy bear and the pink drink is obviously sweet like candy.
hmmm. The only thing I can think of is Mother's Day, though I am not sure how well that would fit.
Teddy Bear: Popular gift
Pink Drink: More girlish drink
And as mentioned before, it would have to be a holiday not an observance.
Though how she would look like Talk like a Pirate Day is beyond me.
"Pray-tell"? "Frivolous"? Goodness, such a pompous holiday!
The clues don't say much to me. I think we can eliminate some holidays that are foreign to the US since there haven't been any in this series so far. Personally I'm thinking it's President's Day, but the latest clues don't seem to fit. Oh the Teddy Bear maybe for Teddy Roosevelt but the pink drink? The only other option I can think of though is Good Friday because of the association with Easter or a couple of observances I won't mention since two guesses is enough. ^_~
The cards didn't even tickle, so its a powerful holiday.
Valentines cherubs are still in the states even tho Valentines day is supposedly busy elsewhere. Pink fruity drinks and Teddy bears just screams to me that its V-day. Probably looks like a big cherub under that suit.
President Day does seem like a good guess. Does anyone know what Teddy Roosevelt's favorite drink was?
Actually President's Day is in honor of more than Roosevelt but it was chosen because before that we celebrated Lincoln's Birthday for 5 years and then Washington's for the next 5 years. Yes, I'm actually old enough to remember when we switched between the two holidays every 5 years. The Government decided to set an official holiday between the 2 in honor of all presidents, which is when President's Day started. I guess some president might have had a pink drink as their favorite.
I forget, but couldn't it be New Years in disguise?
Teddy bear because the personification of New Years in conventional times is a young child.
Pink drink could be similar to the fact partying and drinking champagne and less than pirate-y drinks occurs on New Years.
Mardi Gras hasn't been mentioned yet. no idea on the bear or whatnot, but I haven't seen it mentioned by either side, and I'd say it was fairly powerful (if at least locally)
Presidents Day was the princapal at th high school, hence the issue with the plates. The pink drink as you all keep calling it is calle a Cosmo, it's a cranberry martini.
I gotta know… am I the only one who caught "Pri-ate" instead of "Pi-rate"
Anyway, great strip. I'm looking forward to more!
