Episode 86
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning.
Think about it. How torn apart is the world already in regards to religious beliefs. What would happen if all of a sudden The Easter Bunny came out and told everyone he and other Holidays are real?

Alright, I hate to criticize what looks like is shaping up to be a good story but i've got to call you out on the non-answer there. There's no explanation for -why- what looks like WW3 would spark over the discovery that holidays have personifications.
I'm sure there -is- one, like every nation in the world creating holidays dedicated to national security to create immortal individuals whose sole purpose is to defend or conquer something (abusing the rules or however all this personified holiday stuff works) but that right there…
That's a non-answer. that's the "destruction" the bunny supposedly doesn't want.
Sidenote: Why is the easter bunny ALWAYS evil? Fairy oddparents had it that way too… forgive me if this has been asked.
@Mutterscrawl The most simplistic way to look at it, is consider all the death and destruction that has happened in the history of the world due to religion.
So then what happens when you have a near religious-like entity, like Santa or even Muhammad walking the planet. Humans are going to cause destruction simply because it's what we do. That's it. There is no hidden McGuffin or plot twist here.
I understand why religion feeds hate, violence, etc. in some people while encouraging good behavior in others, but it is not at all obvious to me how the personification of a holiday would make the bad parts worse. Maybe it is because I don't know enough about how the Holidays behave to have an idea of what they would do if revealed or what effect that would have on people.
I could see holidays competing within one culture, but between cultures? Who cares about other people's holidays? Granted, I don't care about other people's religions, so maybe it is a blind spot. Unless maybe the holidays were trying to win converts? I could definitely see how that would cause problems.
I would say that the impact is not at all self evident, as the comic portrays.
Just have a little faith then. It will be touched upon again in the main storyline and then there is a "Tales of Holiday's Past" story meant to clear up any other lingering doubts.
Faith! Okay, maybe that wasn't really a joke.
In any case, I'm not going anywhere yet. I'll just assume for the time being that Tegan isn't really thinking things through. A teenager in other words.
that's what i was thinking too. "so?" "so stuffs gonna happen for reasons that i'm not going to reveal to you until later, at which point the info will be of no use in helping prevent (this genocide/discount coupons to goodwill/the dance competition/etc.)"
he's always evil cuz his persona is less "defined" than Santa's. Santa's had generations of culture show him as a great guy, whereas the EB has always been left as more of an ambiguous thing.
ps. love the comic and i'm glad i caught it relatively early into its run, cuz i hate discovering a comic and having to read through years of archives to catch up (ie: It's Walky! and Something Positive) keep it up!
@drivethruwhale from a logistics standpoint you hit it. It's bad enough I killed Santa, but if I had Santa evil and killing people I'd have a lot more hate mail than I already do. Making The Easter Bunny the villain works because as you said he's not that well defined by our society. I could make his personality whatever I wanted to make it.
That being said, if I've done my job as a writer, when all of this is said and done The Bunny should seem less evil. He's not "evil" for "evil's" sake. And to be honest after this scene with Gaia and Tegan we actually get our very first insight into his character (that new scene starts on the 24th), though he won't be fully fleshed out till the end of Act II.
…. for some reason i am now wondering about the real life origins of the easter bunny….
Easter originated as a pagan fertility holiday (and, no, I'm not trying to disprove the ressurection here), and rabbits are pretty damn fertile
