Old Debts 10
If you are a new reader, you might want to subscribe to “Holiday Wars” as well as start reading it from the beginning. Once you’re caught up on the main storyline then checkout the side stories in “Tales of Holiday’s Past.”
Here is another interesting fact that doesn’t come up in the comic… the cords that bind Loki to the rock are not rope or anything pleasant. They are the enchanted intestines of his dead son Nari.
Don’t forget, this whole “ToHP†story is being drawn by the amazing TL Collins!
TL Collins is the artist and creator of the web-comic known as Bullfinch. A comic known for it’s bizarre mixture of magic, monsters, fantasy, and squirrels thrown into a large blender and pulped into a fine paste. He has collaborated on several other comic works like Superfogeys, Th3rdworld’s Creature Feature, and Daniel Boom: AKA Loudboy.
This is one of the best portrayals – if not flat out the best portrayal – I have ever seen in any medium. Kudos!
Thanks… I just tried to write Loki the way I've always seen him. Glad your digging it.
Huh. I only just realized that I never specified Loki in my compliment – though, from your response, I guess it was pretty obvious …
😉
I r smartz.
Panel 3 is EXCELLENT, it's a perfectly chilling portrayal of Loki, AWESOME work.
Yeah Loki is scary… like The Bunny only not crazy, which is worse.
TL Collins seems to be *really* good at eyes, which I've always taken as the mark of a really good artist. Anybody can do hands, but eyes are tricky to get right. Again, most excellent, it's hard to look at Panel 3 for very long because of how ALIVE the eyes appear to be. Sorry if this sounds gushy.
I've known TL for several years (first met him at a convention in like 2006 or 2007) and the job he's done on "Old Debts" is some of the finest work I've seen from him.
Right now we are at the halfway point of this story, which means a lot of crazy/good stuff is coming. What I'm most excited for you all to see is stuff similar to panel three. TL handles emotions and expressions reallyyyyyy well.
To see if I could. It sounds heartless, but all the other gods were trying and failing so he gave it a shot. And succeeded. ( Sure he waylaid a messenger ) Not very fair that the other gods act all high and mighty when they were trying to kill Baldur too.
I THINK the other gods were just trying to see if they could hurt him, not kill him, but that's splicing words. At the end of the day, all the gods were hypocrites with their heads up their butts.
Loki in other stuff always comes off comical or incompetent. I love how dark and scary he feels here. Very Hannibal Lecture-ish.
Thanks!
AWESOME. Best Loki I've ever seen. Panel 3 is chilling but the off handedness of "to see if I could" is just as cold.
Don't forget, TL Collins is doing all the art on this story and desires a bunch of the credit for how dark/chilling Loki comes off in this episode.
Agreed. Best Loki of ever. The offhandedness sent a chill up my spine. Also if TL Collins is reading these comments, your work is AWESOME!
Thanks Moe! Loki was fun to draw.
what happens now? I mean there are only a few options. Santa has to either leave him, free him, or kill him, right? i dont know which way this will go.
Very good depiction of Loki.
