WAR. Huh. What is it good for?
Well… It depends quite heavily on what type of war and the methods used during it.
In case of outside force waging war on a populace, it is tremendously uniting force against common cause. And if no long term methods are used, like nuclear or biological weaponry, the damage and casualties are more in the moment and while the emotional trauma lingers, in one or two generations, it starts to fade as well. Which leave the population just reduced, which, lets face it in all its cold logic, is more of plus than con in today’s greatly overpopulated planet. The material damages then again boosts building new things and buying new stuff, which gets the left over money flowing, which is the true lifeblood of any economy. It doesn’t help any that few hoard all they can… And in crisis, usually even the scroogest are quilted into participating in the rebuilding, or they do it just so that they can again claim to own all that is around them, but even then portion of their wealth is at least momentarily back in the circulation…
What else… Nazis made huge leaps in medical knowledge with their tests, many wars have boosted manufacturing all sorts of goods to new levels, in many wars the people as whole have been able to participate in work on some level, leaving us with less aimless drifters floating about. The aggressive types have a way to vent their hatred and don’t cause trouble to their own people, and with any luck they are even killed on the line of duty…
Well there’s few pointers. Does it always work like that? Heavens no. Is war always beneficial? Veeeeery unlikely and probably impossible. Is the price for the benefits worth paying? No. Of couse it’s not.So do we recommend it in any way? HELL, NO! 😛
