Actually he's trying to save Tegan. I mean the crazy that is Gaia, would you really want to let her on that she was a potential mother-in-law? Double crazy doesn't make sane.
Plus I think the worst part in all this for Fools is not being able to save the worlds. 'Cose he'd really do it. And another pro-tip. If you want to keep someone's identity a secret, you don't go around talking about it. Especially not in the home of someone you'd rather not have knowing it.
