2011 and Beyond!
“Holiday Wars” launched on July 15th. We have a nice steady following and our numbers seem to be growing… but we are just at the beginning of our journey folks. In 2011 you all will really get a good look at where “Holiday Wars is going.”
With the main storyline we are still in the early part of Act II. Without actually looking at the numbers I think Volume 1 will wrap sometime around April 2012. I know it’s a long way off, but if it makes you feel any better just remember that the pencils and inks for all of Volume 1 are done. This means the chances of us missing an update or falling beyond are pretty darn slim.
And if it makes you feel any better it drives me crazy waiting for you all to know the things I know. I want you to know the result of the big fight that’s coming up. I want you to mourn our next death. I want you to laugh at the one-liners. I want you to root for Tegan and really care about her and the other characters… so I go nuts waiting for you all to catch up and know everything that I know.
As for the future, I’ve mapped out Volume 2 and know scene by scene what’s going to happen but I’ve not actually done any writing yet. Micheal Odom, our fantastic penciler is committed for volume 2 so I’m super excited about working with him again. Looking past that though, I’ve structured things out so that we are looking at a total of 7 volumes and if by then there is a demand and a large enough fan base I can easily up that to 9 volumes. Considering each volume takes about 2 years to run, “Holiday Wars” isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Besides the main storyline we will start updating “Tales of Holiday’s Past” next week. There will be a ton of fun stuff happening in it and for your two or three hardcore fans it should be real treat.
Some time in 2011, “Holiday Wars” should be coming to the iPhone and Android Market Place. The only thing really holding us back right now is tgat I need to make covers. Once I get that done I can pass the pages onto the powers that be and within a few months we will be available for download from Comixology. I really should have gotten the covers done by now, but this is one of those things that doesn’t have an actual deadline so I keep bumping it, but I promise to get this taken care of real soon!
Later in 2011 we will be releasing the prequel novel. I’m thinking now we will re-title it to be something like: “Holiday Wars: Rise of the Bunny” or maybe “Holiday Wars: The Fall of Santa.” The purpose being that in terms of a franchise, which is clearly what I’m trying to create with “Holiday Wars” we need a stronger more brand sounding name. The novel will be released digitally through the website and I know for a fact it will be on the Kindle. I still need to do research about the iPad and Nook before I can make any promises about them. Then I’m guessing we will also do a very very very limited print-on-demand run for any fans who just don’t like reading a digital book.
If the prequel novel sells well we will adapt Volume 1 into a novel and probbally release it at around the time Volume 1 ends. I’m hoping we gain a lot of new fans that will start reading the comic because they somehow stumbled across the prequel novel, but then for those who just don’t read comics (like my annoying sister) it makes sense to do the adaptions if there is a demand for them.
Then, because I’m just absolutely crazy, we’ve begun moving forward on a “Holiday Wars” game. I’ve spoken to several develpers and things look promising. I’m not 100% sure this project will see the light of day and even if it does it won’t be released till 2012 or later. I probably shouldn’t have even said anything about it, but I wanted you guys to know so that you would understand just how serious we are taking “Holiday Wars.”
As you can see, we have a lot planned for “Holiday Wars” and we are in for the long haul. 2010 was a good year and 2011 looks like it will be a great year.
P.S. Here is a little spoiler that isn’t much of a spoiler… New Years will first be mentioned starting in Volume 2 but we won’t actually meet him/her till Volume 5!

what would be even cooler than a video game would be a hoilday wars movie!!! that would be awsome!!
If there is a producer and studio interested, I'm all for it… but in terms of budget a movie isn't something that could be done unless it was done by a major studio.
